Our Mission
Beyond a Buddy reflects a mission that goes deeper than companionship. Our mission is to give homeless pets at Prince George’s County Animal Shelter the extra support they need to thrive and find a loving home.

We’re not a shelter or rescue. As a nonprofit, we fill the gaps the shelter cannot meet alone, providing access to supplemental medical care, enrichment items, essential supplies, and more.
Guided by compassion and strengthened by community, we strive to help every buddy thrive and move closer to their forever home.
Beyond a Buddy began with a simple truth: shelter animals need and deserve more. While volunteering, we saw dogs who were hopeful and trying their very best. Even with compassionate shelter care, limited funding and resources meant many animals still needed extra support to be ready for adoption. Their need inspired us to create Beyond a Buddy, to help ensure that no animal misses out on the care that makes adoption possible.
